Each spice brings its own story to the dish
Step into our kitchen, and you’ll find more than just pots and pans—you’ll find a legacy. A whisper of history in every simmering pot, a trace of ancient trade winds in every blend. Here, in the heart of our restaurant, Indian spices tell stories that have traveled across generations and continents.
Long before the world knew the wonders of curry or the bold charm of garam masala, Indian spices were already celebrated as treasures. From the cardamom-rich hills of Kerala to the saffron-kissed valleys of Kashmir, spices were once worth their weight in gold. Traders crossed oceans for a pinch of pepper. Kings sent expeditions for cloves. And families, like ours, passed down secret masala mixes with the care of sacred heirlooms.
In our hands, these spices do more than flavor—they tell you who we are and each dish we serve is a tribute to that legacy. So, when you dine with us, know that you’re not just enjoying a meal. You’re tasting centuries of culture, tradition, and love—one delicious bite at a time.
Taste the tradition
Our menu is a carefully curated collection of classic Indian dishes and regional favorites, designed to satisfy every palate. From creamy butter chicken and smoky tandoori grills to fragrant vegetarian curries and flavorful biryani, each dish is prepared fresh to order, using time-honored techniques and bold, authentic spices.

From one generation to the next
Our journey began with a vision—to share the rich, diverse flavors of Indian cuisine with the people of Sweden. In 1971, our parents proudly opened one of the very first Indian restaurants in the country, introducing a new world of spices, aromas, and culinary traditions that had never been experienced here before.
As pioneers of Indian food in Sweden, our family has spent over five decades honoring our heritage while building a bridge between cultures—one delicious dish at a time.

What Our Diners Say About Us
Our go to Indian restaurant here in Gothenburg with the nicest and most friendly staff. The food is always yummy and I always end up getting butter chicken and samosas. Their portions are really good too and it’s best to share the dishes you order so you can try multiple things. Also if it’s a hot day, the mango lassi is a must.

After 10 years in London and 6 in and around Brick Lane it’s refreshing to find an Indian restaurant with similar profiles to what I’m used to. Great food, well executed. Fresh and fragrant spices adding to definition between each dish. Service was second to one. Personalised and very knowledgable, made us feel at home from moment we arrived. Will be back.

5/5 probably the best curry I’ve ever had. Hands down. Excellent service and the food is spectacular. I was recommended Daawat by a colleague and I was made to feel very welcome from the minute I stepped through the door
